Sahasraksha: An alert leader keeps the demons away.(RigVed 1/19/12)

Meaning: (The one with a thousand eyes, Fire God), the one with countless eyes of knowledge (God-Sun-Fire) is alert and thinks cares about everyone, and He destroys evil persons, evil tendencies and diseases and germs and maladies arising from indigestion. The Praiseworthy Lord and the Learned One gives advice, and the devotee student praises and serves Him and accepts it.

The Fire God is a deity of the earth world. So, with proper upkeep of the stomach, and consumption of proper food, diseases are kept away from the body. In a human, his body is the earth element.

Those who are alert attain wealth, intellect and progress. (RigVed 1/23/3)

Meaning: (The Brahmins) for removing their lacunae, the intellectual persons who are always engaged in learning, always keep invoking deities like Indra and Wind God who live in space and who inspire them to control all their organs and minds and to remain active, for their protection, progress and growth, because these two deities have countless eyes or knowledge, and are masters of any activities performed sincerely. Indra and the Wind God are deities from the Madhyalok. So, to keep them happy and active, we should take inspiration for control of organs and mind from Indra, and for progress and destruction of ill will from the Wind God, and try to make friendly relations with them.

Varun is all powerful, make Him your friend. (RigVed 1/34/10,15)

Meaning: The extremely radiant Almighty (Varun), who is very severe on evil persons, who is having a thousand eyes, is the judge of virtues and removes the evils, knows and watches the waters of the Veds and streams of life, and inspires them to proceed on the virtuous path of life (10).

Varun is one of the names of the Sun as well. He is the chief deity of the space world. A man’s head is also seen as the space world, in the innermost core of which (Sahasrar Chakra) he finds glimpses ofthe Sun.

In the form of Varun, the Sun controls water and rains, and so, knows the paths of the rivers and streams very well. These water sources flow and ebb on His instructions and cause droughts and floods.

So, O Human, make Varun who does not destroy them without paying them the results of their deeds, and other Gods your friends, emulate Him so that He becomes our benefactor (15).

The sounds of the eternal and unlimited Vedic knowledge which resides in ‘OM’ keep humming in the Sahasrar Chakra.(RigVed 1/164/41)

Meaning: The eternal and unlimited Vedic knowledge which resides within the Almighty existing in the Sahasrar Chakra in the space world of the human body, which is the head, manifests all the knowledge devoted to the Almighty, describing sometimes the Only One, or sometimes the Almighty and the Prakruti, or sometimes the Universe and the Almighty and the Pind and the Jeev Purush, or sometimes the Five Elements and the mind and intellect and ego, or sometimes describes the nine ways of knowledge for man, finally presenting itself in the form of the One Who gives all the unlimited knowledge and sings the Vedic knowledge.

The Almighty is the Supreme Soul, but and ordinary soul gets His glimpses only in the Sahasrar Chakra residing within the head, the space world of the body.(RigVed 1/100/12)

God is the All Knowledgeable, with a thousand eyes. The Gouri (Ved Wani) too is all knlwledgeable, as it resides within the God.

The Almighty says: I, residing in the Sahasrar Chakra, accept you as my friend. If you wish to be my friend, you too make yourself at home in it. (RigVed 5/44)

The same truth is reiterated in RigVed 10/133/1.

Bearing the Almighty, the Giver of happiness, and courage in the heart makes a man the winner of the world. (RigVed 9/84/4).

Meaning: The Supreme One, who gives tolerance and happiness inspires one who wakes up early in the morning and contemplates, for progressive thoughts and makes him active. He fills the heart of someone who controls his organs and mind with the invigorating morning air and seas of energy and happiness for earning riches. This wave of happiness slowly pervades the whole body.

So, someone who has earned courage with his own efforts tells from his experience, like the prophetic Kashyap, O devotee students! Sing the praise of the Lord Who is All Rich, the ocean of peace and happiness and who preaches happiness and courage, because He is not only with a thousand eyes, but he is also the One Who gives us courage and happiness. (RigVed 9/60/1,2).

Moral: Sings the praises of the Lord, emulate Him, and you will never feel the absence of anything.

The Almighty Brahma Purush is limitless in all respects, the mortal man is also Brahma in many respects.(RigVed 10/90/1).

As the Almighty resides in every organ within every living being and everywhere in the universe, He has a thousand heads, a thousand eyes and countless feet, and He watches everything and knows everything. The Almighty pervades all the five elements and is everywhere.

Just as a mortal man is born in just one part of his mother and the mother is far bigger than him, the universe resides in just one part of Him. He bears within Him countless glowing stars and objects, and so is called Hiranya Garbha.

The AtharvaVed describes Him a little different way, meaning that He is the epitome of physical power (Atharva 19/6/1).

Unless one knows all about the Great One and experiences all His great virtues, one will never be free of the fear of death. Only the ones knowing Him cab become great, and enjoy eternal happiness, distancing themselves from happiness and grief.

Man is also a Pind Purush like the Brahmand Purush, and he is the soul within his body, just like the Supreme Soul. And man is also a Brahma from the viewpoint of his Pind. (Atharva 11/10/18).

May I attain a life a thousand years, attaining the protection of the Almighty and the strength and energy of the Sun (Atharva 11/1/21).

Meaning: With the protecting armor attained by following the Vedic preachings of the Lord Who is the Guardian and Protector of His subjects, and armed with the light and brilliance of the Sun Who destroys all grief in the form of diseases, may I live, making progress continually till my old age, to be a thousand years. May I be able to feed a thousand people with the riches attained by living virtuously. Gaining success in my courageous deeds, may I follow Vedic preachings till the end of my long life.

It is also suggested here, that along with living by the Vedic edicts, one who consumes the energy of the sun for long spells, can live even up to a thousand years.

The Lord of the Masses lives in all living beings. Nobody can do any harm to those who wear Him as an armor within. (Atharva 10/8/13, YajurVed 32/1)
